Outpatient Infusion Center

The Outpatient Infusion Center (OIC) at Dallas ID Associates provides therapies administered by infusion in a comfortable and convenient setting and is staffed by a nurse specially trained in infusion therapy and a pharmacist with 24 hour a day on-call availability.

Infusion is a procedure of delivering fluids and medications into a vein by way of a catheter and is sometime referred to as "intravenous" or "IV" therapy.  While infusion therapies are mostly performed in a hospital they can also be performed in outpatient infusion centers or in the home.  Home infusion has been shown to be a convenient, safe and effective alternative to infusion in the hospital.

The OIC at Dallas ID Associates provides infusions at the center and infusion therapies to be administered in the home.  Infusions are typically delivered intravenously by way of a PICC (Percutaneous Intravenous Central Catheter) or a mid-line catheter which has been placed in the hospital or at a hospital outpatient department.

Typical types of infusion include antibiotics (antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral medications), immunoglobulins and IV nutrition which may be prescribed for patients with serious infections unresponsive to oral antibiotics, immune deficiencies or nutritional deficiencies.

Our physicians will evaluate each person that requires infusion services.
